Dear Fredstrom Families,

It’s time for the Fredstrom PTO fall fundraiser. We would like to challenge each student to collect at least $50 in donations. Our school-wide goal is to raise $25,000! Get ready for lots of fun and awesome prizes!

What is a Walk-A-Thon? It’s an opportunity to encourage our students to become healthy while collecting sponsorship donations to help purchase new playground equipment. The Walk-A-Thon will take place during your student’s “specials” class (i.e. Music, Computer, P.E., or Science) on September 29, 2017. The students will walk the sidewalk loop at the Highlands Park (behind the school). Each student will receive a bottle of water and a banana at the end of their walk time.

How will the money raised be used? This year, all proceeds from the walk-a-thon will be used to purchase new playground equipment. LPS does not provide funds for the purchase of playground equipment. Our goal is to purchase 3-4 pieces to add to our existing equipment and a separate play structure specifically designed for preschool/kindergarten aged children. The students will get to vote for the playground pieces they most want to have purchased for the school!

What is our goal? For each student to raise $50, or more, and walk 5-10 laps.

YES! We will have LOTS of awesome prizes!

Each student who collects $40 or more, will receive a prize. We will also have prizes for the team that collects the most money and the team with the highest percentage of students participating.

The top 20 fundraisers school wide will join us for a LIMO PARTY!

How to Participate

1.      Secure Donations. Each student is encouraged to collect donations from parents, grandparents, relatives, friends, neighbors, etc. – anyone willing to support our school. No donation is too small – even $1.00. Checks should be made payable to Fredstrom PTO. The PTO is a non-profit organization and donations are tax deductible!

Ø  Collecting donations just got EASIER! This year, we are using an awesome online fundraising system that makes it much easier to request donations from your friends and family. It allows them to make secure credit card or check donations online. It’s fun, it’s easy, and people who use it typically raise twice as much as those who don’t!

§  Enter your name and email address, then click “Register” – follow the instructions on screen

§  When you finish, the system emails pledge requests to your family and friends, and allows them to make secure donations online. You will be notified each time a pledge is made, and you can track your pledge progress online! B

2.      Record Donations. On the attached sheet, record your student’s sponsors and amounts donated. You are responsible for collecting all donations. Return all donations on or before Friday, September 29th to your child’s homeroom teacher.

Ø  Any donations made online will be submitted for you – DO NOT ENTER THEM ON YOUR PLEDGE SHEET!

3.      Volunteer. To maintain safety, the PTO is looking for volunteers to help! Volunteers are needed to stand at certain points along the walk to ensure students stay on the sidewalks and to encourage them during the walk. Contact one of the PTO members below to volunteer.

4.      Walk With Your Student! We encourage parents and grandparents to join the students during the walk to help promote healthy family activities. Younger siblings are welcome to attend. Please, no pets.
